[SAMPLE EDITORIAL ESSAY]
When two defenders stop the ball, the screener can release early and receive a pass in the middle of the floor. From there, the short roller has a clear view of the corner, the dunker spot, and the rim. The catch is valuable because it moves the ball past the first layer of pressure.
The decision does not need to be spectacular. A quick touch pass or a controlled dribble toward the rim can keep the defense rotating and create a better shot for the next player.
