[SAMPLE EDITORIAL ESSAY]
Back cuts reward players who notice when a defender's eyes leave them. The cutter takes a direct path to the rim and shows their hands to the passer. The move is especially useful when the defense pressures the ball far from the basket.
The passer must be ready to deliver the ball on time. If the pass arrives after the cutter has crossed the lane, the defense can recover and the opening is gone.
